Newsletter - March 8th

Hi all, the state meet is all over. The team finished 5th this year, we

were just 40 points from 3rd but a long way from 2nd. After the 12 & unders

were all completed we were in 2nd place but we did not have a lot of

swimmers in the older age groups which had an effect on our team placing.

We had a super meet by the swimmers with lots of best times recorded and a

great attitude by all that were there. If the swimmer has lost their

t-shirt or did not get one please try to pick one today. Our swimmers

consistently show that they are up to the task to swim FAST at these

important meets and does bode well for the future. Thanks to all of the

parents that volunteered and to the parents that tried to volunteer. There

were more than enough people that wanted to help this year from all teams

because of the seating concerns. Thanks to Tony, Jeff, and Holly for

helping out on deck with the swimmers. Thanks to all of the parents for

getting their kids to the meet on time so they were ready for warm-up and

ready to swim fast.

1. Practice Schedule this week

Green M/W 4:15 - 5:15pm

Gold M/W 5:00 - 6:30pm

T 5:30 - 7:00pm

Sr M-W 2:45 - 4:15pm

Sr & Gold Th 2:45 - 4:15pm

AM M-Th 5:45 - 7:45am

2. There is no Gold Team practice on Thursday evening, swimmers can come

late to the Sr & Gold practice on Thursday from 2:45 - 4:15pm as soon as get

to the Y after school. There will be no practices on Friday of this week.

3. Next week's practice schedule

Green & Gold M/W/F 4:15 - 5:30pm

Sr M/W/F 2:45 - 4:15pm

Sr & Gold T/Th 2:45 - 4:15pm

AM M-Th 5:45 - 7:45am

Sat Sat 8:00 - 9:30am

4. The JO's will be held this weekend at Bowdoin College. I am still

awaiting our official warm-up times for each day for the Sharks, I will

email these out to the JO families as soon as I get them. The meet begins

on Thursday afternoon and runs until Sunday evening. You follow the results

on www.maineswimming.org.

5. All trophies & ribbons from the State Meet and all the prizes from the

Aquathon will be passed out at the Swim Team awards Banquet. The date is

not set yet but I asked to use the MDI HS Cafe on April 13 or 14. I should

hear from the HS staff soon and then I relay the date out to you all. The

banquet begins at 6:00pm and is usually completed by 8:00pm. All Shark

swimmers are encouraged to attend along with family members and anybody else

that wants to support the Shark swimmers.

6. Many swimmers passed in Aquathon money last week which was great. They

are still totaling the amount of money that was raised at the front desk and

in the next week I will begin trying to figure out the sizes and the

different other prizes that are offered through the Aquathon. You can still

pass/collect/ask for money if you wish and we would be glad to accept more

Aquathon money for the Swim Team.
