To Interested Parents & Swimmers
This year we are planning on taking two different trips for swimmers that make certain practice requirements. I have attached the requirements to this email. We are hoping to take a group of swimmers from ages 9 - 12 to Boston on the last weekend in March. The other trip would take swimmers ages 12 and over to the island of St. Croix. Approximate cost of the trips will be announced soon. We are hoping to swim in a 50 meter pool on both trips and have some fun as well. For the Boston trip we will stay in town or very close to town. Make a swim practice, take a trip to one of the educational attractions (science museum or aquarium), possibly go to some type of show, and Faniuel Hall marketplace. For St. Croix we would plan on staying at condos, swimming practices and possibly swimming a meet, going to the beaches, take sail boat to snorkel, and just enjoy island life. In the coming weeks I will try to get out more plans on the trips to make everyone aware of we are planning on doing.
To make it on these trips all we are asking is that the swimmers make certain practice requirements as determined by age. The most common thread is that all swimmers make it to Saturday morning workout. We want all swimmers to make it to the Saturday practice even when we have meets (some away meets are excused) especially home meets. Why Saturday morning workout, well for a few reasons, 1. we have the ability to have a two hour practice on those days, 2. it is great to have a group of swimmers working together for a similar goal, 3. it is a great warm-up for the meet later in the day, and 4. for the possible breakfast food after swimming those Saturday practices.
The other practice requirement is to make it to a certain number of practices. These practices can be done at either a morning or afternoon practice and for High School swimmers both HS practices and meet will count as a practice. Practices are held Monday - Thursday am from 5:45 - 7:45am. Swimmers may come in that time period. HS swimmers will usually swim for about 1 Hour 15 minutes, while the middle school swimmers will usually swim for about an hour. Practices are also held in the afternoons for all swimmers. High School practice is from 2:45 - 4:15 Monday - Friday and then Green is Monday, Wednesday, & Friday from 4:15 - 5:15pm and Gold from 5:00 - 6:30pm on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday and 5:30 - 7:00pm on Tuesday & Thursday.
I have started taking attendance at practices. If a swimmer is thinking about making the requirements they should either Tony or myself so we are aware of who is planning on going on the trips. If you have any questions about the trip please email or speak to us or call 288-3511 ext 105.
